An Event Worthy of a World RecordMay, 2018
65 horo dances, hundreds of dancers, thousands of attendees, millions positive emotions – this is definitely an event worthy of a Guinness Record. If we have to describe Bulgarian folklore with one word, it will be magic. The residents and the guests of the city of Pleven got enchanted by this magic on the National Day of Bulgarian Enlightenment and Culture – 24 May.
The local folklore dance ensemble “Severnyatsite” organized a spectacular performance in the center of Pleven. This was an attempt for a Guinness World Record for the largest number of horo, danced for 1 hour and 18 minutes. “Severnyatsite” performed 65 horo dances from all folklore regions in Bulgaria. The general partner of the event was BILLA Bulgaria, and M3 Communications Group, Inc. was responsible for the organization process.
“Severnyatsite” are now waiting for the decision of Guinness whether the record will be recognized or not. However, what is more important is that this event was a celebration of Bulgarian spirit that made thousands of people feel proud of their traditions and cultural heritage. This is exactly what is worthy of a world record!
