Thе Beautiful Faces of Bulgarian Science

They are young, intelligent, brave, inspiring, and beautiful – they areAssoc. Prof. Ina Aneva, Dr. Maria Kalapsazova and Nina Stoyanova-Nankova and are this year's winners of the national "For Women in Science" fellowship for Bulgaria. The prestigious awards were presented to them for their innovative research projects at an official ceremony at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” with the special participation of Mrs. Iliana Yotova, Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria. This is 11th year in a row in which M3 Communications Group, Inc. organized the grand even and coordination the whole programme.

The "For Women in Science" fellowships are one of the most renowned and anticipated scientific awards in Bulgaria, which are presented every year by L'Oréal and UNESCO to young women scientists, as well as one of the top favourite project of the M3 team. The prizes aim to support their research careers as well as motivate them to reach their full potential for scientific discovery.

The project, with which Nina Stoyanova-Nankova impressed the 2021 "For Women in Science" jury, is focused on the study of the plant Graptopetalum paraguayense and its potential healing properties against human coronavirus.

Dr. Maria Kalapsazova is the name of the second fellow under the program "For Women in Science" this year.  Her research and the award-winning project are focused on developing more efficient and cheaper green energy storage materials, and in particular aimed at inventing innovative sodium ion batteries.

The third fellowship winner of the program "For Women in Science" for 2021 - Assoc. Prof. Ina Aneva, is one of the most progressive young scientists at BAS. The project, with which Ina won the “For Women in Science” award in 2021, focuses on studying the healing properties of plants such as Mursal tea for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer, Parkinson and dementia.
