The First “For Women in Science” Exhibition in Bulgaria

The First “For Women in Science” Exhibition in Bulgaria

For 15 years now, the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program has been inspiring and supporting Bulgarian women scientists — those courageous researchers who, with talent, perseverance, and vision, are changing the world around us. This year, M3 Communications Group, Inc. once again had the privilege to be part of the initiative, and the anniversary edition was even more special — our team organized the very first exhibition dedicated to the Bulgarian laureates.

"The world needs science, and science needs women!" Under this motto, on May 22, at the Bridge of Lovers next to the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia, the exhibition was officially opened, bringing together the achievements of 39 outstanding Bulgarian scientists. From the development of therapies for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases to innovative vaccines, sustainable energy solutions, ecological technologies, and even participation in space missions — the laureates’ projects are living proof that science is happening, here and now.

The team of M3 Communications Group, Inc. took on the full organization and communication of the anniversary event — from developing the creative concept, design, and visual identity of the exhibition, to coordinating the official program, guest invitations, media partnerships, and every detail in the organizational process.

The official opening gathered leading representatives from academia, institutions, and the initiative’s partners, including the Vice President of Bulgaria Iliana Yotova, Chair of the National Commission for UNESCO – Bulgaria Elena Shekerletova, Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality for Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Activities Blagorodna Zdravkova, Vice-Rector of Sofia University and Chair of the For Women in Science jury Acad. Toni Spassov, as well as Milena Shipkovenska — Human Resources Director and Management Board Member of L'Oréal for the Adria and Balkans region.

Thanks to our strategic approach, the exhibition was covered by the national television, leading print publications, online media, prime-time news broadcasts, and social networks, reaching an audience of over 9.8 million people. In this way, the message of the power of women in science inspired thousands of girls and young researchers to believe that science is a field open to them.

The L'Oréal – UNESCO For Women in Science program launched in Bulgaria in 2010 and for 15 years has been recognizing and supporting the most promising young women scientists in the country. So far, 39 Bulgarian researchers have been awarded the national prize, and the total award fund has reached €195,000 invested in bold projects with global potential.

We thank L'Oréal Bulgaria, the National Commission for UNESCO – Bulgaria, and Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” for trusting us to be part of this significant initiative!

Because the future needs more science. And even more women in it.
