For Women in Science 2025: 15 Years of Inspiration and Ground-breaking Research Projects

For years, L’Oréal and UNESCO have reminded the world that science needs women, just as the world needs science. At M3 Communications Group, Inc., we believe this too and for 15 consecutive years we’ve had the privilege of working behind the scenes of the national program “For Women in Science”, supporting everything from the application process and jury coordination to invitations, media partnerships, exhibitions, and unforgettable award ceremonies.

The 2025 anniversary edition was one of those truly special moments. We celebrated 15 years of the program in Bulgaria with the first-ever panel discussion titled “The world needs science, and science needs women” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, followed by the official awards ceremony.

The panel featured Prof. Milena Georgieva from the Institute of Molecular Biology at BAS and co-founder of EPIX AI, Assoc. Prof. Elisaveta Kirilova from the Institute of Chemical Engineering at BAS, Dr. Rositsa Paunova from the Medical University of Plovdiv – the first researcher in Bulgaria to apply artificial intelligence in psychiatric diagnostics, and Boryana Gerasimova, biotech entrepreneur and founder of Re:Gena. We spoke about artificial intelligence in medicine, epigenetics, nutrigenomics, hydrogen technologies, and the future of health and energy — but also about very human topics: motivation, barriers, role models, and the courage to stay in science.

Later, again at BAS, we hosted the most emotional part of the event — the official awards ceremony for the 2025 laureates: Dr. Blaga Blagoeva, Dr. Iveta Nedeva, and Dr. Niya Toshkova, each receiving €5,000 to support their bold and high-impact research projects. The ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Iliana Yotova, Acad. Nikolay Vitanov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Elena Shekerletova, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chair of the National Commission for UNESCO – Bulgaria, Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva, President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Acad. Toni Spassov, Vice-Rector of Sofia University and Chair of the Jury, as well as Maximiliano Frenza, General Manager of L’Oréal for Bulgaria and the Adria-Balkans region.

For us, “For Women in Science” is far more than a project – it is a cause we believe in and proudly support for the fifteenth year in a row. And we have no intention of stopping.
