Keep it modest, please...

Snap elections have been routine in Bulgaria in recent years, and with this year's upcoming elections, our politicians suddenly transformed again. As if within minutes, they became sweet, kind, promising… and somehow more modern and prouder. Shortly, the glossy, photoshopped faces of these people, dressed in beautiful suits and bright neckties, will be posted all over the place, and we will be showered with their endless sugary promises, none of which, as we know, will ever come true.

And we, the People of Bulgaria, know what we need  -  clear, precise, pragmatic solutions to lead us out of the ongoing, yet another crisis. Or at least to prevent us from falling even deeper into it. Luxurious packaging simply wouldn’t work because  -  especially with our politicians  -  only a few minutes of television time are enough to show the sad reality inside. And that's why I think that in politics, the gloss, pretend smiles, and empty words are so worn-out that it wouldn't be surprising if they push voters away even more. Although… I don't think the number of people voting in Bulgaria could get lower than it already is.
